NEW in the IBAC project catalogue: Ese Hombre
The Bible Society of Costa Rica have been using art as a Bible advocacy and engagement tool since 2000, and the team now have a wealth of experience on which they continue to grow their work in this area. Firm in the belief that a picture tells a thousand words, they are passionate about using the arts as a mechanism to help people participate in – not just hear – the biblical narrative.
Ese Hombre, translated as ‘That Man’, is a continuation of other arts advocacy work that the Bible Society of Costa Rica has been involved with. It is a theatre production performed by leading Costa Rican actor Rodrigo Durán, and played for a month at the Teatro Eugene O'Neill, San Jose's third largest theatre. At its heart, the project aims to share the message of God’s desire to communicate with people through Jesus – ‘that man’ – who is at the centre of the piece. Using the strapline ‘today’s conspiracy’, it wrestles with the big questions of faith and how the Bible is relevant to our lives today.
